A Lo Cicero
MISS - Sexton cannot add the extras. Full time in Hong Kong and the Lions have got their tour off to the best possible start, absolutely hammering the Barbarians 59-8.
TRY LIONS - A final try for A.Jones to finish this one off. Cuthbert set this one up with another scything run, with Sexton firing a bullet pass to the big man out on the right hand side.
CONVERSION LIONS - Third times a charm for Sexton who adds the conversion from the right hand side. 54-8 now to the Lions.
TRY LIONS - This one comes from shear grunt work! A big rolling maul from the big Red forward pack culminates in Lydiate getting himself a 5 pointer for his efforts tonight.
MISS - Sexton again unable to add the extras from the right hand corner. 47-8 the score now, somewhat resembling a cricket score.
TRY LIONS - Another long-range effort by the Lions which is finished off the Cuthbert with his incredible pace once again down the right hand corner. The Lions really lighting it up tonight.
The Barbarians trying to take some pride away from this match as the find touch 5m out from the Lions goal-line off a penalty. The Lions though spoil the party as they pinch the line-out.
MISS - Sexton cannot add the extra points from pressed up against the right hand touchline. Lions lead 42-8.
TRY LIONS - Another try for the Lions down the right hand side! Cuthbert shows incredible pace down the touchline off a turnover, burning off Hamilton and scoring in the right hand corner.
CONVERSION LIONS - No issue with the conversion and the Lions have replenished their lead to 29 points once again, leading the Barbarians 37-8.
TRY LIONS - The Lions get one against the run of play here as the Barbarians throw a suicide pass that Evans cannot hang onto. The ball deflects off the knee of Davies who collects the 5-pointer.
MISS - Evans fades this kick to the right of the posts from out on the left hand side. Scintillating play from the Barbarians, wouldn't mind seeing some more of that.
TRY BARBARIANS - Smokin' Joe showing he's still got it with a trademark sidestep on his man, floating in the air somewhat as he splits the gap and puts Fotuali'i in to score for the Barbarians.
The Lions starting to empty the bench to give everybody a good hit-out before heading to Australia. Another error, this one from the Barbarians coming from a poor pass from the ruck base.
Some loose play here from the Barbarians as they throw the footy round in their own in-goal area in what are really testing conditions. Nothing to lose I suppose so they're trying to get inventive.
The Lions continuing to pepper the territory of the Barbarians as they find touch only 5m out from the Barbarians line. Line-out throw to follow.
CONVERSION LIONS - No problem for Farrell from out on the right hand side, and the Lions starting to blow this one wide open.
TRY LIONS - Phillips bags a double! He takes a big break straight up the guts of the Barbarians defence, and there is no stopping the nuggety halfback from 20m out, try!
The second half is underway in Hong Kong as the Barbarians kick off proceedings. The Lions will be eager to empty the bench and give everyone a good hit out before landing in Australia.
PENALTY GOAL LIONS - Farrell adds 3 points on the stroke of halftime to extend the Lions lead to 23-3 at the split in difficult conditions.
Some scrappy play here in the lead up to half time as the Lions continue to dominate the possession of the footy. Sloppy handling again lets them down as Davis cannot hang onto the ball.
CONVERSION LIONS - Farrell adds the extras from adjacent to the left hand upright. Lions have raced out to 20-3 lead.
TRY LIONS - Phillips register the second try of the night from a snipe from the base of the ruck. Some seriously weak defence from the Barbarians in that passage of play.
CONVERSION LIONS - Farrell adds the extras from 5m to the left of the uprights. Lions lead this one 13-3 now.
TRY LIONS - The first try of the tour! The captain for the night O'Connell dives over from the base of the ruck as Phillips went within inches, only for the big man to finish off in style.
The Lions doing all the attacking in this one as the Barbarians cannot seem to get their hands on the ball. Only 5m out from the line now are the British and Irish side.
Another error here by the Lions as the attack starts to build up. A short ball goes to ground as Hogg once again cannot hold on in these slippery conditions.
PENALTY GOAL LIONS - Farrell back on the money here as he slots his second penalty goal of the match. Lions push out to a 6-3 lead.
The Lions getting plenty of attacking chances in the opening quarter of this one, but once again an error comes to spoil the party as Hogg cannot hang onto the lollies.
PENALTY GOAL BARBARIANS - Davies slots 3 points for the Bar-Bar's from a mile out. This one just sneaks over the crossbar and we're locked up at 3-3.
MISS - Farrell comes up with a shocker here from the left hand side, pulling this one terribly to the left hand side. The Barbarians struggling with discipline early on.
NO TRY - Maitland turns on the jets here as he chases down a kick downfield, winning the race but knocking on as he tries to ground the footy, scintillating pace there from the Kiwi.
SIN BIN - Brits finds himself spending 10 minutes in the naughty chair for taking a punch at Farrell at the back of the ruck. A bit of a blue escalates but nothing too substantial.
The Lions get a scare here as Farrell has his kick charged down, having to go back into his 22 to clean up the scraps. Lions pinned in their own territory now.
PENALTY GOAL LIONS - Simple kick for Farrell from 40m out. He gets the first points of the Lions tour with this penalty goal and the Lions lead 3-0.
We're underway in Hong Kong as the Lions get proceedings happening. Conditions tonight are perfect for both these sides to showcase what they've got.
The first match for the British and Irish Lions tonight coming from Hong Kong where they take on the Barbarians side. Some real talent donning the Black and White tonight.
